ORDER A CREATIVE CLUB TEE

I had a shoot this week in Texas for a client, luckily it was a fairly chill trip with minimal stress but after one of the days of shooting I was driving down a lonely road with vibrant green rolling hills on each side. It was a beautiful sight to see but I wasn’t thinking about the sights during that drive- I was just looking forward to getting back to my hotel room, getting in a run then getting some rest. Over the last few weeks, I’ve been catching myself loosing gratitude. I wasn’t being mindful of the great things I already have.
I woke up to a text message from my mom the next morning reminding me of being content in all circumstances and understanding the true value of the process. Whether you’re feeling tired, anxious, excited, or maybe even lonely, I’m here to tell you- it’s all going to be okay and it’s all apart of the process. Let’s take stock of the good things and blessings in our life because sometimes when you focus on the good, the good gets better. Keep moving forward and keep going. If you need a helping hand or need someone to listen, feel free to reach out.
Rediscovering Your "Why"
When you first picked up a camera or first started creating something, what drove you? Was it the desire to tell a story, to create a visual masterpiece, or to capture a fleeting moment in time? This core motivation is your "why," and it’s crucial to remember it. Setting aside time to work on a passion project can help you reconnect with this fundamental drive. It’s about rekindling that initial excitement and using it as fuel for your creative fire. That’s a realization I always have to come back to and the recent trip in Texas was a good example of that. I need to remind myself of that spark that initially got me into film and of the things that I actually want to produce. More to dive into on this topic in the next newsletter.
Filmmaker Highlight
Speaking of passion projects, I had the privilege this last weekend to watch one from filmmaker, Danny Gevirtz as he’s finally released his first ever feature film called “I Think I’m Sick”. It’s a comedy/drama, here is the synopsis-
”After an attempted suicide, Will must redo his senior year. Feeling like an outsider as school gossip circulates— his only regret is that he is still alive. Struggling for significance, he haphazardly joins the school’s cross-country team, where he meets Robin, the girl’s team captain who is unusually interested in Will’s past.”
I know lots about Danny and have followed the process of this film over the last two years. Watching it and seeing all his hard work pay off was very inspiring to me. Not to mention, it’s a coming-of-age story about a kid in high school, and I personally connected with it through my own experiences when I was in school. The fun part is that this production consisted of production assistants and crew members new to filmmaking—either those who’ve done a few small projects or those right out of film school. Lots of different walks of life came together with one goal: to make the movie happen. If you're interested, below is the website where you can check out the trailer and also watch the film!

My music pick -
I listen to all sorts of music and songs from different cultures. Whether it’s Latin or African or even French music! I’m intrigued by everything. Here’s one that’s an African track that’s a pop remix called No Wahala, which apparently means “No Problem” in Nigerian Pidgin. I didn’t know about that language and learned that Pidgin borrows words from indigenous languages and English. Knowledge is power I guess 😂 Love the beat and energy of this song. I actually heard this in a scene on an episode of Ted Lasso so it’s been a great one to keep on the top of my playlist recently -
