If you’re reading this, it means you’re taking the time out of your day to read what I have to say. For that, I’m grateful so thank you. I don’t really advertise this newsletter too much, it’s mainly through word of mouth so if you’ve gained something from it I’d appreciate if you shared it with just one person!
I’m in the middle of what I’m calling “The October Tour”. I just got back from a week long trip for two different video shoots in Seattle. I’ve been back in Arizona for two days and now I’m headed to Maryland for another shoot until Thursday. After that, I come home for about a week and then head to Philadelphia for a bit and then from there going to Florida for a conference at the end of the month. I’m basically hitting all corners of the country this month.
I’m blessed to be able to do what I do but know that I need to continue to prioritize my health and well-being. It’s hard to feel good when I’m not taking care of myself. I also want to continue to grow but in a sustainable way. I recently had a phone call with my mom and we were talking about how being put into the fire and pursuing the things you don’t know how to do is a great way to grow. Here are a few points that I thought of on why it’s important -
Mastery through Experience
The creative world is constantly changing and the most significant learning happens when we step outside our comfort zones. Encountering obstacles and pushing boundaries forces you to learn new skills and solve problems. You’ll become more seasoned both through work and life experience.
Confidence and Credibility
Overcoming tough challenges builds confidence. It shows you that you’re capable of more than you thought.
Personal Fulfillment
Beyond career growth, putting yourself through challenges brings a sense of personal fulfillment. The satisfaction that comes from overcoming tough situations and achieving new heights fuels passion and motivation.
A Film for BODI in Scottsdale
I wrapped on a shoot about a week ago on a promotional film for BODI in Scottsdale, a community focused gym. We shot a B Roll day getting various different scenes, the classes that BODI offers, the energy the community brings, signage, etc. A week later, we shot the main interview day of the founders and dug into why they opened the gym and what’s to come. Here are some stills of the behind the scenes from the shoot -
Always fun to build and shoot films the way I want to shoot them. More fun projects to come. I’ll share this final video when it’s released and talk more about it!
Podcast Recommendation
I’ve been listening to the boys over at the 505 Podcast. They have lots of gems and talk about really valuable topics in the creative and entrepreneurial space. Take a look here -
My Music Pick
There are a few tracks I’ve been listening to, both completely different lol. This one is from Ryan Taubert and it’s a track I’m going to want to use in a project down the road -
This other one is just a little throwback and a good vibe by Phillip Phillips -
Thank you for being here and as always, have a great day!
Best,
Blake
