Hey there! :)
If you’re reading this, it means you’re taking the time out of your day to read what I have to say. For that, I’m grateful so thank you. I don’t really advertise this newsletter too much, it’s mainly through word of mouth so if you’ve gained something from it I’d appreciate if you shared it with just one person!
We recently shot a fun quick project for Broc Herrera and his cold plunge business, Prana Plunge. The video is a short 1 minute video highlighting why he started the business and what makes their specific cold plunges different from others. Here are some stills from the video itself -
Here are some behind the scenes photos -
The purpose of this video was to give Broc a new tool for his business, Prana Plunge and to enhance his marketing efforts. That video offers a fresh perspective on Prana Plunge by telling a story.
It’s easier to connect with a brand or buy a product when there’s a meaningful narrative behind it. In my work, I’ve found that my biggest passion lies in telling these stories. Rather than just creating another social media reel, I want to go deeper and craft a “story film” that truly captures the essence of someone’s business or brand. How can we create something that gives people more info who are genuinely curious?
While many focus on social media, only a few are dedicating themselves to storytelling through film. That’s where I want to concentrate my energy—being more intentional about the structure and depth of the stories I tell and just being able to shoot in a more traditional way.
I believe people are moving away from the “grab their attention in the first 8 seconds” mindset. Instead, they’re increasingly drawn to compelling videos, even if they’re longer. For me, it’s not rocket science. It’s about focusing on and caring about what truly matters.
Happiness is caring about the right things.
I like how this quote is framed.
We’ve all been told the lie either in word for word form or by indirect influence that our status and how we appear to others has a direct correlation with our happiness.
Happiness isn’t about what your followers think of you or what your old friends think of you.
Happiness is a choice we make.
We need to stop caring about the things that are out of our control, and start caring about the things that ARE in our control.
While I don’t have a direct answer for the key to all happiness, I think I can help guide you on the right path to discovering what resonates the most with you.
Human Connection
I think the majority of us find ourselves stuck in front of a screen the majority of the day with very little human interaction.
While Instagram and FaceTiming can be a fun way to connect with others, try getting off the screen and doing something else that allows you to open yourself up to fully connecting with someone else.
I think far too many people go through life feeling alone because they don’t know how to have a relationship with real depth.
While not everyone on the internet needs to know every last detail of your life, there are people in your real everyday life that want to know how you actually are doing.
We’re all just doing our best out here.
I’ve found when I’m having a rough day, intentionally putting the spotlight on someone else by helping them have a better day makes my day better.
Health Is Wealth
Yeah I know this is an obvious one, but I think it’s important.
While I enjoy fitness content, the never-ending fitness coaches and trainers that overflow my Instagram feed is a constant reminder of where I’m falling short with my health.
And while seeing what others do to stay in tip top shape can be inspiring or motivating, the comparison game can leave anyone feeling defeated.
Remember, getting a good sweat and actually moving your body is important and healthy, but your mental health is just as important if not more so.
So instead of jumping all-in on an extreme diet and workout plan, be realistic in how you go about it.
Are my health goals sustainable for the long term?
Or am I just going to burn myself out?
It’s all how you look at it.
Look Beyond Yourself/Care about Others
While the above steps can help with happiness, I have to acknowledge the happiest people I know view life from a much bigger lense than what’s going on in their own little world.
They make time for practicing gratitude, creating relationships with depth and connecting with their inner self.
For me, it’s been my faith in Jesus as a Christian. With that, I try to make time for prayer and meditation.
Each one of us are here to make an impact in our own way.
If we go through life with a consuming and ‘taking’ mentality, I think we’ve missed the point.
As soon as we step outside of our own realm and realize what we once thought was important actually isn’t, the sooner you’ll discover the real kind of happiness that isn’t fleeting.
You’ll find both your self-awareness and confidence will grow as your comfort level with your inner-self grows.
And ironically, this will help you to more honestly and freely look beyond yourself in a way that you never have before.
While building your business and growing your skills as a creative is important, your happiness and well-being is much more important.
My music pick
Been jamming to this mix mainly featuring Illenium’s music with other artists. Always loved the drops and how “cinematic” and balanced but epic they sound!
Thanks for reading this week y’all. As always, have a great Monday.
I believe in you!
All the best,
Blake
